Host: Gary Buckle is a paramotorist and makes flying videos on his Youtube channel. He has seventy-two thousand subscribers on his channel. If that isn’t adventurous enough, Gary can also be found exploring haunted spaces with the Colorado Supernatural Investigators team. Gary, thank you for joining us today.
Gary: Totally!
Host: What scares you the most, Gary?
Gary: (shrugging) Death, maybe? I try to squeeze ever ounce of life our of every day, every moment that I have. When death comes, life with be worth it.
Host: What’s the craziest thing that you have done?
Gary: (thinking) Maybe, waking up every day? I mean, like, I had a parrot named Zeus, right, and Zeus broke his wing against the cage. So, I wrapped Zeus up, strapped him to my body, and suited up. Flew him to my mom’s veterinarian friend in Falcon.
Host: You… flew your pet bird to the Vet?
Gary: Yeah.
Host: That was a very sweet thing to do.
Gary: Not very crazy, huh?
Host: (shrugging) Not really.
Gary: I mean, okay, like, how about the time my parasail folded at eight thousand feet, and I had to pull my emergency shoot?
Host: That sounds deadly.
Gary: (shrugging) That’s just a part of flying. I learned to recover and land safely. No problem. Crazy? No, I don’t think so.
Host: You’re an interesting cat, Gary.
Gary: I know, craziest thing. No, wait, I can’t talk about that. The team agreed to keep that a secret.
Host: The ghost hunting team?
Gary: Yeah, (air quotes) The Gang.
Host: Some crazy experience investigating haunted houses, huh?
Gary: Most of it is… a spooked imagination.
Host: And the rest?
Gary: (shrugging) That’s what we’re trying to find out.
Host: Okay then, Gary Buckle, at the age twenty two, achieves epic adventurer status with countless tales of the crazy things he doze.
Gary: Sure bro, sounds about right.
Host: Next question. Who are the most important people in your life?
Gary: I guess…. my parents. They did let me get my license, and fly those things.
Host: Those things… you mean, the paramotors?
Gary: Yeah. Mom hates it. She’s afraid I’m going to kill myself. I keep telling her, no mom, my job is to NOT kill myself. It’s the force of my body, accelerating through gravity, when it collides with the ground that will kill me.
Host: I’m sure that makes her feel better.
Gary: She gets it. It’s my love. She supports that, at least.
Host: You fly as an occupation. Many people dream of jobs where they fly. What is your dream job.
Gary: (smiling, and pointing to the ceiling) I’m going to go to space.
Host: Astronaut. That’s your dream job?
Gary: No. I want to be on the front lines of space commerce. Gonna need space engineers for that.
Host: If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, fact or fiction, who would it be?
Gary: John Glenn.
Host: And what would you say to him?
Gary: I’d ask, what was it like bursting through the atmosphere for the first time?
Host: Final questions. Who do you admire?
Gary: Same answer. John Glenn.
Host: You really want to go to space.
Gary: Hell yeah.
