Host: Hector is a Colorado State Park ranger, and associate biology professor at the Space City Community College. Thank you for joining us today, Hector.
Hector: Happy to be here!
Host: Let’s dive into it, sir. What is your greatest fear?
Hector: You mean, outside of being mauled by a big momma bear?
Host: No, that’s pretty scary enough.
Hector: Ah, well, there’s your answer!
Host: What is the craziest thing that you’ve done?
Hector: You mean, outside of stepping between a momma bear and her cubs?
Host: That actually happened to you?
Hector: Fortunately, my associate was in the jeep at the time and managed to make her flinch enough for me to get inside. Too close for comfort, I tell yeah. Still haunts my dreams to this day. Kids, this is why you always partner-up when your in those wild spaces.
Host: Who are the most important people in your life.
Hector: My wife, of course. My coworkers.
Host: If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, fact or fiction, who would it be?
Hector: You know, I would love to have met Carl Sagan. I read his book, The Dragons of Eden, when I was in my twenties, and it really made me appreciate the natural world. He is one of the reasons I’m a park ranger today.
Host: What would you say to him?
Hector: Hmm. I probably tell him what I just told you.
Host: Next question, what is your dream job?
Hector: Oh, it would have to be outdoors, among the trees and wild grasses and clear blue skies. Maybe, I stumble upon a trail of Elk one day, or a Ute hunting blind. I would want to hear the calls of the coyotes at twilight.
Host: This sounds like your day job.
Hector: (smiling) It is!
Host: Final Question. Who do you admire?
Hector: I admire my wife, for putting up with this old fool all these years.
